THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED ON 071306. I ELIMINATED THE DUPLICATE, SMALLER SIZE PHOTOS. I SEEM TO BE RUNNING INTO BANDWIDTH PROBLEMS AGAIN!

When I gave this little diorama to Kreston last fall at the Chicago show, he told me it was going to take some time to complete it, but I think the wait was well worth it, don't you?

Thanks for collaborating with me Kreston! I don't see how it could have been done better! :)

FYI - these are Kreston's pics taken in the pretty Wisconsin sunshine.

All the best,
Dan

Dan. I do like it. Do you have larger pictures? It would be great to see all the detail work that went into it?~Gary

Thanks Dan. I'm not used to taking pictures of such a large scale undertaking!

A little bit on my process...I glued everything in place except for the British soldier and the two rifles and then airbrushed the entire diorama with an acrylic undercoat. I then painted everything with oils. I used washes of varying earthtones for the groundwork and added linseed oil where I wanted to retain a "wet" look. The muck in the deeper recesses is a two part epoxy with a bit of oil paint mixed in for color and depth. The wire was painted a rust color and then highlighted with Vallejo Oily Steel. The Brit was painted and then glued into place before he was weathered. The rifles were added last and painted in place. Final weathering was done with earth tone pigments.

Kreston, Nice job on the vignette. I'm getting a little tempted to do a WW1 piece myself after being inspired by a number of them being shown here on Pf. What else is on your bench?~Gary
