dd5.jpg Hi everyone,

thought it would be fun to have ourselves a little contest here.
No competetive sidethoughts, merely the idea how several sculptors would handle a collectively chosen character or theme and we have a look in our kitchens.

I was curious if people were interested. In that case how and who are next questions.

just imagine....10 Charlie Chaplins but each one just a bit different :)

love to hear! ( even if I'm too enthousiastic)

René

I have a brainwave...
1.) Women in war
2.) Snipers
3.) Composers/ musician
4.) Knights
5.) Sean Connery

fill me in...

René

5.) Sean Connery 2 votes already :)

6.) Sir Anthony Hopkins
7.) the Tarnjacke
8.) Famous chessplayers
9.) favourite actress

as I said, there's no competetivity but just imagine a favourite is chosen to be casted and used for a paintingcontest in other section...

Interesting idea. :)

I've had something similar before where members can pass a sculpt around with each sculptor taking turns on it, it would be keen to see others work and in the end the it would be an accumulation of many sculptors talent on one single figure.

ofcours this is a great idea Gordy but I'm afraid only digital sculpting is conveniant in your idea. I mean, there is no hurry or short deadline but I think it's nice to see a subject to be developed by ten other hands.
10 different kind of preparations, each with its charms, same outcome but different results.

ha, I forgot :)..

10.) self portrait :)

ah ah...in Holland at the Twenot website we already have this kind of contest. Not for figures but themes like, desert War, the Elephant , mainly tanks, soft skins.
in a poll 3 topics can be chosen and for half a year people can work out their idea. The 'winner' is chosen by a jury and gets eternal fame :)

( I know Einion, but for a moment it looked like Darko was my only competetive :) it's discussable but when the digital master is printed I have interest to see it as a sculpt)

11.) Matt Damon ( my all time favourit :cautious: would be great to see him do some cold war things with Christopher Waltz, believe me..they are competetive)

which rises:

12.) What if?! actors/actresses in a role not yet performed but reluctantly forced to do so in your bust. Sean Connery as Santa Claus, Bruno Ganz play Charly Chaplin, Angelina Jolie as a Greec Goddess and so on
a somewhat defined 'fantasy'

I really like the Zorin character, psychopathic. If he turns out to be favourite I would love to see him being done by several minds around here.

Along the way we could pick up nice details and/ or basics from each other. For instance some digital work from Darko.

I think yours will look very well soon, Nick. Likeness is one of your virtues I noticed.

but let's see how this evolves. And yes, it's for the fun :cautious:

hello there,

As you say it's just for fun, do you accept some begginer sculptors here ? It's like the third or fourth time I sculpt something in 1/35, and I'm taking the taste of it. Sharing work in progress with others well into the sculpting is a good way to learn. The thing is I don't feel the capacity to sculpt a precise character because it(I guess "it" is more appropriate than "he" in such case :)) will, i Know, looks like crap. I Never sculpted a female figure, so for me it would be a good take to begin.
Best,
Julien

So, Julien, you like the groupsculpt dedicated to a female figure. And specificly?

that could be:
1.) Women in war
9.) favorite actress

The outcome is a free choice, like 1/35, full figure, bust, it's for fun. We are all welcome ofcours.
But I think it's wise to take a theme or a personage for this collective inspiration.

any suggestions?
