Let's start with some details concerning the course.
First of all, I remind you that I will be doing this same course in the spanish forum “La Fábrica Roja”. I tell you this because I think it could be interesting that you check the advances of the people in the other forum (around 12 or 15 more members). I will put some links when avalaible.
Well, as Gordy said, we will have a specific subforum just for the course. There,
besides my own thread where I will be posting the progress as a step by step,
each member will have a personal thread to post his/her own process.
Any corrections or comments on the work of a member will be done in that member personal thread. I recommend that everyone follows everyone's threads so it will be useful to solve some questions, to avoid the repetition of some doubts (although I will answer them every time is needed) and learn not only from my explanations but also from the work of our fellow painters.
As not everybody paints at the same speed or have the same time for doing this,
I will give two weeks between each main step of the course so everyone can complete it easily.
Once elapsed the two weeks, I will post the next step and if someone is left behind, that member should have to recover the lost time (althought I still will be monitoring his/her efforts, of course).
For that reason, this course also will be an exercise on patience. When doing this kind of hobbies, hurries can be our worst enemy. The complete process will elapse about 3 months. Is way much more time than needed to paint such a simple miniature. But is necessary so nobody gets behind. To those who paint much faster, I recommend you that you take it as a learning process that you will be doing while painting other figures and
don't move forward the others and myself. I really insist that you follow the course at the same time as the others. Keep in mind that I will have to keep track of between 25 and 30 people in two forums so,
I will not be able to advance comments on an area the rest of the people haven't still touched.
The painting will be done only with acrylics and, althought it will up to you to decide colours or ideas for the terrain,
I would like to ask that everybody use the same mediums and basic techniques (i.e. If everyone is going to paint the shirt with brush, it will be hard for me to give special advices to a member who prefers to paint it with airbrush or oils).
This is the step by step planning of the course:
1. Context of the miniature, information and setting.
2. Cleaning, painting planning and building of the miniature. Terrain construction.
3. Miniature painting process.
3.1. Face and skin.
3.2. Shirt.
3.3. Trousers.
3.4. Boots and cape.
3.5. Leather belt, knife and weapon.
4. Terrain painting.
5. Making and painting of a decorative plaque.
Point 1 is some kind of introduction to the miniature we are going to paint. I will post it one week before the start. The start day,
tuesday, february 1st, we'll begin with point 2 that is the start of the real work on the figure. From that point, every two tuesdays I will post a new step in my thread and, meanwhile, I will check your advances.
