In nov 1944 the allies tried to capture the coasts of the river Schelde in South-West Netherlands, in order to liberate Antwerpen. Therefore they invaded the isle of Walcheren and landed at Vlissingen and Westkapelle.
Years ago I made a little dio of Commando's no 2, Dutch troop fighting in the streets of Westkapelle.
Figures are SHQ, painted in Humbrols. Street is made of plaster, cardboard etc. I tried to represent the little houses in Westkapelle and the typical black barns

Nice..this was significant operation for Canadians..and my grandfather /great uncle…but I didn’t know about the Dutch commandos..very cool

Grasshopper, the Canadians fought at South Beveland. They had to cross a dam and were just sitting ducks for the germans. Every year in oktober there is a memory walk to conmemmorate the brave canadians

Hi Paul

Happy to see your modelling and really impressive groundwork , the work on the houses looks very good as does the painting g of the figures which sit well into the diorama
