Horse Trading! FT/New White Resins Listed
Okay, folks have been asking a lot of questions about my "horse of a different color" resin. They aren't kits and there's no assembly required. They are a white resin, and from what I've gathered through some of our discussions here, it is VERY different than resin minis and figures are made out of.
There is no sprue to deal with, only very small seam lines, no flash, and the prep work on these are minimal. I have a feeling you will be pleasantly surprised. Of course, I will provide detailed photos and descriptions. And if there's something that's a little more complicated, I'll be sure to point that out.
These horses are white resin (I've heard it called polystone but I've also heard that polystone is hard - that is NOT the case with these). This resin is soft and very workable, I prep using my carbide scraper. If you're not careful and use and Xacto you might gouge the resin. All of them have wire reinforced legs and usually wire in the tails too.
I would very much like to trade if possible and I've put values on them which equals what I paid, not current market value which has increased because the runs are small. So they are for sale too if anyone is interested in purchasing.
These resins have been waiting for me to find inspiration to paint them...well for many it's been three years - I probably ain't gonna find it. I thought a trade might be in order.
I really want to trade a "horse for a "horse". I love the medieval age and have several Andrea and Pegaso models. But only one of them, my current WIP, the Roaming Knight has a horse. There are a few others I've seen that I'd love to own, especially if they are sculpted by Andrea Julia.
Knight of the Holy Sepulchre is at the top of my list. And yes, if necessary I will trade more than one model if there is a value imbalance.
But I know there are a lot of cool models I haven't seen so here's the general guideline.
It needs to be 54mm or larger! If it's smaller, I might not be able to paint it with my hand tremors.
I'd really like it to have a horse in there somewhere.
I love the medieval age, but ancient history works too. I'm not too keen on Colonial or Napoleonic Ages because I'm not as familiar with the history as I am medieval but it would depend on the sculpt. Fantasy, Light or Dark, Chaos or Elven would also be fine.
I love Andrea and Pegaso style sculpts. I loved what I saw of Romeo but if you have another brand, I'm more than happy to check it out - I know there's a ton of stuff out there I haven't seen.
Basically, if you're not sure if it's something I'd want - send me a PM and I'll let ya know. I'd rather hear from you and say "thank you but no," than miss out on something cool.
Okay that's the basics - here's the list:
First up is a 1:32 scale (54mm) Bitty Bosco.
Original sculpt was Traditional size (1:9) scale El Embosco a Keiger Mustang Stallion. The sculpt proved extremely popular and it sold out quickly. A year or two later, the sculptor, Morgen Kilbourne resculpted (he's not a scan) a mini version changing his head turn and basically making him a mirror image of the original. There are many sculptors who do not attempt a mini version of a previous sculpt, concerned they will not be able to capture exactly what the public loved about it in the first place. They opt for computer generated "shrinkies" where the original is scanned and a computer reduces the sculpt the the appropriate scale then sends instructions to a machine to create a mold. Morgen opted for the more difficult route and resculpted Bosco by hand. The accuracy is brilliant and this stallion is loaded with attitude.
This one I snagged in a last minute deal with the sculptor as I already had acquired one at the beginning of the run. But the sculpture was down to the last few before the mold decayed enough to start turning out Seconds. Seconds do have the flash and sprue and can get pretty ugly, so they are advertised as Seconds at a reduced price.
This resin, is not a Second but he will require a little more work than the one I painted early on. He is very tippy and does not want to stand. His feet will need to be sanded and there is a possibility of having to take a heat gun to his left hind leg for less than a second (I'm not kidding, any that .5 seconds and you'll have a puddle of resin instead of a horse) to straighten it just a touch.
He shipped to me from the sculptor who received him from the caster. You can see where the sculptor added some Apoxie Sculpt to fix a couple of air bubbles in his hooves and tail.
She also worked on his front feet. The only thing I've done with him thus far is sand the bottom of his feet and tail (it helps brace him when he stands) so he was not quite so tippy. He will definitely need more work. If you are concerned about doing this, I will be happy to fix him for you and get his feet level free of charge. Just let me know and I'll make sure he stands securely (being tippy and falling on its side is the leading cause of busted ears on these things).
Bitty Bosco = $90.00 + s&h
Continued next post...which will follow shortly.
