Greetings all on PF!
I usually take some pics of my wips because they help me to detect any kind of error and also allows me to watch the full thing from another perspective, and obviously sharing them lets me to know any overlooked trouble or to get any kind of feedback...So here it is:

There is still a lot to be done, correcting all the freehands (I even not started on his right shoulder), smoothing flesh tones and mutate the colors of the fur (what is that??) over his shoulder , looks too similiar to his beard.
Also I think he's crying for a customized, seaman style, pedestal..
Any ideas, comments and criticisms welcome!!

Cheers, Gerard

Particularly impressive work on the patterns Gerard.
This is a lovely bust which you've presented in a way that shows it at its best.

Hello Gerard, This is a beautifully painted piece. The colors are very vibrant and vivid. Your freehand patterns are exceptional. The fur on the shoulder reminds me of a llama pelt, and if it is, you could paint it with lighter colors, maybe a white-ish fawn color, to give some contrast to the beard. Love the sun-soaked skintones, they look great. I believe this is your best work to date, very interesting and extremely well executed. I wish you the best of luck with its completion. Regards, SG:happy:

Tkanks Mike!!
I must admit this bust in his box art never appealed to me until I saw it out of the box and could aprecciate how extremely well sculpted it was, with a really expressive face.
I warmly recommend it

Many thanks for your words Rick. I'm not sure about llamas on Middle East. This guy should be located at least both on the eastern mediterranean and on the arabic sea. But changing it for a camel pelt instead I'll buy your idea (anyway has the same colors..)

Hello Gerard, Just a guess at what the fur might be. He is a pirate, might have plundered it. One other thought, did you consider adding some jewellery?, necklace, earring? Regards, SG

Gerard Lovely work! do like your freehands very neatly done! as is the face
good work indeed! From one Gerard to another!!

Hi Gerard, forgot to ask are you painting in oils or acrylics? superb paintwork!
