Hello folks,
Just finished this dragoon of the Orleans regiment.
All in acrylics.
The regime t was created in 1718 for the regent under the name Orleans Dragoons.
The regiment was placed 6th in Rank in 1733, then 7th in 1744 and 9th in 1776.
In 1788, the regimet was reorganized, in 1791 with the abolition of the Royal titles it became the 16th Dragoon Regiment.
In 1786, the uniform was a dark green tunic with the distinctive dark pink lapels, cuffs and tails of the coat , piping pink on the shoulder straps and vertical pockets with white metal buttons.
The headgear was the metal helmet with skin turban (leopard skin for officers).
Leyend tells these Dragoons were so fond of their helmets that the had to be asked to take the helmet off for church service.
