There have been two days of hearings before the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board the past few days in regards to an application for a resort and casino that would be a half mile from the entrance to the Battlefield Park. There are four applicants for the one license available. A decision as to who the license will be awarded to will take place later in the year.

The following video was shown to the board and represents those opposed to a casino in Gettysburg. It's very well made. ~Gary

That's sad and shameful.

Are there any organizations we can contact, donate or write to express our support?

Yes it is Gordy. If you Google CWPT (Civil War Preservation Trust) or NO Casino Gettysburg that will point the way if you wish to lend some form of support. Though I feel for the people of Gettysburg at this point in time, they appear to be looking at this thing as the cure-all for their ills, i.e. unemployment, high taxes, etc. ~Gary

You can't beat Governor Cheesesteak and the Harrisburg Mafia. They implemented casino gambling here in PA, to stave off any real spending cuts or tax reform, and there's no end to it. The lure of quick money is too powerful, the taxpayers eventually come on board, on promises of subsidies to their property taxes, and we're stuck with the casinos. And my unemployed cousin takes her unemployment insurance to the Sands/Bethlehem and flushes it down the slots. I could just give her the cash myself and cut out the government as middleman.

It's a fallen world...
