I have not posted any projects for a while- this is a recent one. I did both
the sculpting & painting. This is another in a series of WWII Pin-ups- the
U.S. Navy this time around. She is sitting on a Mark 14 torpedo that is
being loaded into a submarine. This is a painted resin casting of the original
sculpture, that was used as the master for a kit by KitKong's Model Mansion.
Approximately 1/8 scale, about 8.25" tall & 13.5" wide on a 6"x8" oval base.

Really like this and beautiful paint job.

Just curious, any symbolism involved with the torpedo being loaded into the sub? (wink wink)

Wow!... that is just superb David!

Sculpt is brilliant, and the paintwork is simply beautifully done, what a gorgeous piece of work all round.

Love it!

Cheer's,
Jeff.

Just bought this one myself. I have Bomber Belle, but was on the fence about this one until I saw the painted up version. Took me all of about 3 seconds to hit "buy it now" once I saw those pics. Since we have Bomber Belle, Armor Annie and now Pearl, will be seeing a Marine????

David

Great finish love her "eyes" ......

What's the fkesh mix ?

She is certainly one good reason to join the Navy !

Thanks for sharing

Your pin up figures are awesome. I just bought Pacific Pearl and I have all the others. What is next Marines, Coast Guard or Army Infantry? Keep em coming!

Thanks very much for the comments!- KenBoyle, Blunderbus, Joe55, Jeff T, JasonB,

Blunderbus- Sometimes a torpedo is just a torpedo...;).

JasonB- There has been some talk of a Marine- trying to figure out what will work
as far as a design/concept.

Len K.- I will have to wait & see what is next...

napoleonpeart- For the flesh, (after gray primer) I start with Vallejo Medium Flesh
(airbrushed), then a mix of Liquitex (Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Deep Portrait Pink
& White)- shading is then done with a very diluted mix of Tamiya Hull Red & then
highlighted with the Liquitex flesh mix (with added white). The rest is done with
hand brushing & some pastel shading.

Always great work, Dave!
Any thoughts on re-releasing the California Car-Hop?
I should've got her when it was first released.
Best always.

Here are some ideas, there are quite a few when you google Marine pin up. Some less appropriate than others...

Terrific sculpt and painting Dave. OK, now you have to do a marine like I begged you at the last SCAHMS show.
