Despite being on the forum for years this is my first completed post due to me not thinking my work was good enough until recently and also being crap at taking photos. Jake (my son) has got a new camera for his car modelling posts and has taken these for me.

This is great fun piece to paint one of Carl's best in my view as I said when it was released and thanks to Gordon for releasing it. OOB apart from lead wire for cap lines etc, base from Richard at Oakwood and plate from Name it. Andrea and Vallejo acrylics over a black Citadel primer apart from flesh which was over white citadel primer. Flesh in oils. Metallics and braid using citadel golds mixed with Vallejo to flatten off a bit.

I had various reference showing different hair colours but decided that a touch of grey around the temples would probably be right.

Any comments especially on how to get better photos would be most welcome.

Some lovely work on this.

Lovely blues.
The stitchwork on the cuffs looks great.
What colours and technique did you use for this if you don't mind telling us?

The photos look great.
I remember reading somewhere that if you don't make the background the same colour as used on the figure it contrasts more.
Having said that these look great mate.

Thanks for all you kind comments!

To answer Gells, good tip on contrasting backgrounds by the way

The braiding is Citadel Ghenna gold with Andrea dark brown leather as a base, then washed with more dark brown and matt varnish. I highlighted using various sands and tans, finally using a 00 with almost any paint almost like dry brushing but more controlled. I let everything dry naturally between sessions so each dolman and pelise took about a week each doing short sessions each day. The extra lines are lead fly tying wire lie Stu includes in some Stormtrooper kits.

Now we can take photos I can get some of my back catalouge posted!
