I have only once before painted a Dragon figure in this scale so I thought I would throw one together for some small scale painting practice. The figure is from the "Approach to Stalingrad" set, consisting of a four man Heer MG team. This guy is the ammo and spare barrel bearer. The figure is out of the box except for his hands, which were improved with Magic Sculpt to better his grip on the Gewehr.

So far I have concentrated on his face, helmet, trousers and boots, none of which are finished. The flesh is from the Life Colour flesh set, with some Liquitex inks. First time I have used these paints and I really like them. Helmet decals are painted. Some diluted silver ink added to show metallic wear. If this turns out OK, I may do the whole vignette.

Thanks Martin and Colin. This is one of the old Dragon castings. Takes some creative use of paint to bring out the detail.....which is there. I made a couple of assembly errors on this one but nothing catastrophic. A learning experience.

Good work Colin,
As you say there is some super fine detail on these small castings.
As for taking on the smaller chaps, you still have it My friend.
All the very best,
Keith
