Dear Planeteers!

Today I would like to introduce you to the work of the Russian painter Pavel Ryzhenko, who painted several pictures from the recent Russian history.

His most famous work is surely "Umbrella" that shows a scene after the assassination of a Russian Guard Colonel and his wife in 1919 at the Peter and Pauls fortress in Saint Petersburg by "red" sailors of the battleship "Gangut" ...:



Also no less in touch is Ryshenko's picture, "The Last Inspection," which shows Tsar Nikolai II, who had just been abducted, on March 15, 1917, inspecting at the City of Pskow his Cossack bodyguards (the "Konvoj") for the last time, while the red flag becomes just hoisted in the background...:
