I was just wondering from others on what type of surface you use to mix your paints. I have a plastic palette and the oils don't really mix all that well in it. It seems as though that the oils just slide around when trying to mix them. They are W&N oils.

So, what type of palette is better suited for this application? :D

Thanks,

Doug

below are examples of what I mix my oils on. Its a plastic page protector with the flesh (in this case) mix inserted between the plastic page protector. As you can see by the stains....been using it for years.

There are many surfaces that people use but this solved the problem of having the mix formula right there too.

Not sure why a plastic pallette does not work for you? I used old plastic covers of cottage cheese containers and they were okay. I use oil paints too. Lately, I started put wax paper over the plastic cover. When I was done, I would just throw out the wax paper rather than cleaning the plastic.

I use a white ceramic tile, put a strip of double sided tape along the top and fix crown cap bottle tops to this, available cheaply and in quantity from home brewer supplies.
Keeps the individual colours and mixes tidy, you then have the rest of the surface to blend.
Can't remember who I got this idea from years ago, but I remember him getting a gold at Euro with a Mongol hunter on his pony belly deep in snow.
