I've just completed my Papua New Guinea Highland Tribesman bust.
A bust subject I've wanted to do for some years now, but one which my innate slothfulness has prevented me from doing until now.
It's a converted Verlinden bust. The headress proper and the beard is a mix of Magic Sculp and Kneadatite.
Every thing else is a mix of whatever I could find and/or steal.
Here tis~

Ken, thanks mate, glad you like it.
Tony, cheers mate, I've admired the PNG Highlanders brilliant use of colour and decoration for many years and have always intended creating this bust and I've finally got around to it.
Derek, thanks mate, you're right about the great variation amongst highland tribes, mine just represents one of many...cheers mate.
Thanks Ron, Just head, shoulders and upper torso hunters Ron.. He's going look a lot better on one of your Grange Bases mate....cheers.
Cheers Mike, I'm not sure why we have so few PNG subjects amongst commercial figures when you consider how many indigenous peoples from North and South America are represented in our figures. I'd like to see a wider representation from Africa, Asia and the Pacific....anyhow cheers Mike, I may take this one to Brisbane, see you there....I'll be the greying, overweight, bloke with glasses,..oh hang on, that pretty much describes everyone there doesn't it. Just look for someone that looks like my avatar.
Many thanks Fabrizio, so glad you like it..cheers.

I've only now realised how overexposed those pics are so here's another, but without the nose piece ~

That's a fantastic job Mark the colours, skin tone etc all look really lifelike, but where the Cream of Tartar label ?

Steve

Cheers Steve, thanks mate, I'm thinking one of Ron Tamburrini's Grange Bases will do the job nicely. Glad you like it, mate.
Steve, really happy you like it mate. There's no-one more amazed than me that I've completed a Cream of Tartar free piece. There was some uncomfortable sweaty nights, restlessness and feverish hallucinations but with the help of family and friends I got through it ok.
Marc, thanks very much for your positive comments, mate. I appreciate it a lot,...Cheers.
Victor, Thank you very much for looking in and commenting. Your own modelling of PNG subjects has always been very inspirational for me.Thanks again.

Hi Mark,
I really like what you have done with this and I actually think you have transformed it and it looks better than the original bust ever did. If you did not say it was a conversion I would have thought it was another completely different bust. Well done looks great and something quite unique.
cheers
Richie

Thanks Richie, glad you like it mate. My sculpting skills are limited so I tend to convert pieces to get what I want.
You know all about conversions though being a skilled converter of figures to get those pieces that are unavailable commercially.
I like to use a mix of two thirds Magic Sculp to one third Kneadatite to get the consistency I prefer.
