I am very sad at this news. I was Bob's "last" student. He shared everything
with me and taught me so much in the 17 months we painted together. He was a wonderful man....I had felt like we had known each other for years.
He had a great sense of humor... and always had me strive to be the best
I could be. I will miss him very much... my sympathy to Eleanor and his daughters.

I'm very saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I knew him from chats at MFCA, and he was always a gentleman and willing to share his extensive knowledge. He will be missed buy us all. My condolences and prayers to his family.

See ya' Bob!

Bob Knee was one of those rare individuals who always had a positive outlook and an unquenchable desire to promote his favorite hobby. He was a strong and positive force wherever he went. Our hobby will be a little less for his passing.

I think we can all take a lesson from a guy who had such a positive influence on our hobby.

Thanks Bob, for being who you were...........! We will miss you.

Cheers!!

Mike

i attended his only seminairs at mfca about thre or four years ago and he was very nice and considerate person to me & all the others at the classes.

Hallo Guy,

I'm very sorry to hear that Bob Knee had passed away. I was in contact with him and all the time he was a real Gentlemen, friendly, helpful and always willing to share his acknowledgement with others.

We come in contact as we both share the same fascination on Native American History and Heritage.

Bob always treated the herritage of the Native Americans with respect and understanding, for this he always had my highest repsect.

An old Indian saying tells us: a men die, but his spirit will never die and guid the ons who understand.

Thank you Bob!!!

I learn with displeasure that a great figure of the modellismo today has gone ......... did not know Bob personally but it is an honor for me to make my felt condolences to its family more and its friends.

Honestly, I'm at a loss for words to explain what I feel.......

I never had a chance to meet him personally but I have read his articles in Historical Miniature as well as his book (which I still refer back to constantly). The world and the hobby are a little less enjoyable now......

It goes without saying my condolences are extended to his wife and family. We speak of the tremendous loss to the hobby but they have lost an inspiration.

No amount of words can replace the loss of a family member or friend. Only time. Time truly heals all wounds but I'm afraid this will take much longer than many of us have.

A good friend who I`ll miss. I feel honoured that he had so much time for me, his help in researching figures was invaluable. A truly nice guy.
My thoughts are with his wife and family.

I recieved a call from Eleanor Knee tonight and she and Bob's 2 daughters are holding up well considering the circumstances and the loss of "Their Bob". I explained to Eleanor I had posted the announcement of Bob's passing and at the time of the phone call had over 1200 views and 33 comments. She was overwhelmed at the response of feelings felt by the people of our hobby. I promised to print out a copy for each of them and mail it to them after the services this weekend.

If you would like to share any little story you may have of Bob or how he has impacted you and your development as a painter, please post them here for the Knee's to read.

Thanks for your responses guys.

Bob's work in painting the original Series 77 boxtop representations played a big part in popularizing Pat Bird's sculpting....

Good-bye my friend

I met Bob when I first started TLB Miniatures 10 years ago and right from the start he was there to assist me in any way he could and through this we formed a wonderful friendship that I will cherish always. He was there to answer any questions I had about anything concerning this hobby and he was there when I just needed a friend to talk to. I will deeply miss him and our long chats both on the phone and in person. He was indeed a man among men! My condolences go out to Eleanor and his daughters. Bob touched alot of people over the years and I know that his memory will live on for many years to come.
Good-bye my friend.

I never had the pleasure to meet Bob Knee, but I, of course, knew of his work, and I, like the rest of us, have been a beneficary of his talent and grace. He will be missed as much by those of us who didn't know him as those who did.

There's a line in an old Tom T. Hall song about the passing of a friend that goes something like "Could be the good lord needs a guitar picker." Maybe there was a painting job that needed doing and Bob was the guy to do it.
