Hi All
I have been trying to translate an article by Daneil Ipperti that covers do veins on horses, and in his article he is using Pebeo meduim. I cant seem to find that product in Canada. Does anyone have an alternative medium which may be suitable for the job?

Thanks
Paul

Yeah, like Bob says Pebeo is just a brand so it's like saying you use Escoda brushes but without specifying which range - could be nearly anything. Does the article go into any detail about what properties it provides Paul?

If he's using it to physically paint the veins on then paint thinned with a touch of spirits (and maybe a little Liquin or another alkyd medium) should work much the same. You can also do the same thing with acrylic paint, without having to wait as long for it to dry :)

Pebeo

The medium seems to be a compound that actually has a bit of body to give the effect of dimension he has been using a humbrol thinner to sculpt or manipulate it. From some of the translations I have done the medium seems to have an acrylic element to it. which makes no sense to use a solvent base thiner Not sure if I could use something like Wingel .Or would an Acyrlic sculpting medium work(clear or semi clear medium used for texture in painting)?
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Paul

Is it clear whether he's using it by itself or mixed with the paint?

Well there are acrylic solutions, as opposed to what we automatically think of when we hear the word (suspensions in water).

Wingel I think would be an ideal option to try if you want to mix with your oils, since it has more body than standard Liquin.

A heavy acrylic medium would work too. I've applied a bit of texture using acrylic mediums and thick acrylic paint a few times, and although the medium won't tend to flow as well as an oily mixture you can build up in layers without a long delay between coats.
