My only fault with it is the surcoat. And its an ongoing problem common with several medieval figures. I wish these guys would use a little common sense and do some research when it comes to surcoats. If the guy is a knight (as is so often depicted) and this is re-enforced by the figure wearing spurs, a flap in the front between the legs is in the way. A horseman's surcoat is split up the middle so it falls to either side of the saddle and his legs and does not get caught up as he throws his leg over the saddle as he gets on and off the horse.
Good point. My gripe about this sort of thing is about fighting in a cloak, which offers some difficulties... number one of which is you're fighting in a goddamn cloak :D

Im a lilttle curious of how the chainmail of the crusader looks live and unpainted? In some of the photos the structure of it looks a bit simplified
I think the mail pattern is excellent done, hopefully it's captured evenly in the moulding process.

Hello again Planeteers. Sorry to insist with the bust of the hussar of Pegaso.
I know how I'll paint. I´ll paint as a trumpet of hussars elite company.
That would be strictly correct, because the trumpetters only had one belt for the cartridge pouch, and their only fire weapon were the two pistols in the horse saddle. They had no carbine.
Regards.

hello
i think the one belt hold the bullet pouch at back.on the other normaly infantry had hang its sabre and bayonett.and sabres husars wore at the belt with the sabrepouch
so i think one is quite normal have not seen so far one with crossed belts.but surely imn field such things may have been done and common.
iam not so informed on napoleonic uniforms
i to doubt the wearing of cloaks in fighting.its hindering movemant and on horseback you can be reasyly dragged of the horse by your billowing cloak.neverless an knight on horseback shows one.maybe because it looks more dramatic.but when you throw an cloak only over the shoulders hold by an chain or an line you will see how he jumps on you and flies ariound when you beginn to deliver strikes and blows and try to parry with the shield.surely not practic.thats the thing one should always consider logic reasons in figure making.
cheers

Good to see the Templar painted correctly ie white surcoat AND white cloak. I agree the clothing would be impractical when fighting but it sure makes a dramatic looking piece.
The hussar could I think represent any rank on campaign; interesting the boxart piece seems to be painted with gold lace. The trumpeter idea is the most appealing.

The artist interpretation of chainmail is also a matter of personal taste. And its always better when you see the piece live and does not have to judge it by pictures.

I however like this interpretition a lot.

Excellent point about the cloak Einon. Even Mathew Paris's 13thc. depiction of the two Templar's on one horse are sans cloaks.
Mail depicted on figures is always more super hero form fitting suit than accurate depiction. Especially on the arms and legs. Ander's did a great job showing the bulk of a mail hauberk and the way it hangs on the figure he sculpted. There is a "hang" that is missed by sculptors who are too used to depicting clothing rather than mail. Its metal rings riveted together, not spandex. Many times, the "rows" of rings are oriented the wrong way as well. In most cases I write this off to "it is what it is" and applaud the effort of the sculptor for having the patience to sculpt mail well as opposed to the old style method of using a dowel to make holes or indentations in the medium and going for the idea or inference of mail rather than something more realistic like we see these days. Baby steps I suppose.
