There have been some comments here and there about inacuracies in this figure. I am no expert to be certian, but what could possibly be wrong with this figure? It is a stunning piece of art, and in my oppinion should be regarded as such.

Can anyone help me out with what complaints are aimed at this beauty. Thanks in advance,

Jay H.

Hola Jay,

I agree, it is a piece of art for sure, by one of the best sculptors in the hobby. I think the thought behind the figure was to produce a stunning figure, which will without a doubt be very successful commercially, rather then to produce a historiclal accurate verion. If you want to know whats 'wrong' with it, check Augies forum, they are pretty serious over there and if a lace is wrong they will tell you all about it in great detail. I know this figure have been picked apart over there, do a search for El Passo Honoroso forums at Delphi forums.

Luca has started on the face of the Templar Knight.

And Luca also sends everyone his Christmas Card.

I don´t care what he said about this masterpice figure, I like it, nothing in this world is perfect and if you are looking for the perfect figure you will have to wait an eternety to have it...
BTW you are doing a super job Luca, will love to see the black version :)

Here is another step in the Templar knight painting. I am so glad Luca is painting this and sharing with us. Excellent reference for all who plan on painting one.

Jay, In terms of accuracy I really can't say as it's not really a period I have much interest in. Follow this link and it may provide you with some information regarding the historical accuracy of the piece.~Gary

I would think that painting the face so that it appears real under the shadow of that hood would be a tricky exercise' and IMHO Luca's is a fine example to follow.

Regardless of the historical accuracy of the dark cape with white habit (and who's to say that a knight-brother wouldn't have used any cloak available on a cold desert night), this must be the figure of 2005 - as soon as I can afford one it's joining my collection!

... re. historical accuracy, I just had a look at Augie's forum and he says it can be painted as any man-at-arms ca. 1200 ...

... I have a vision of this figure painted as Richard the Lionheart ! :) Somehow to me it looks the part.

its a super nice figure and a gem for every collection . As soon as i am back from holiday i will start the painting !!!

Have a happy new year all, and Luca great Work on this one as always !!!!

Johan -

Painting this fellow as Richard I strikes me as a real fun project.

I have this one on order and will consider not painting him as a Templar. I'll have to give this one some thought now that I read your idea about Richard I  (y)

Keith

 dear friends, thanks for the comments. Johan have a good idea, and now I have a trouble in my mind. Richard is one on my favorite heros. I think that follow the way of keithP. I paint t so much hospitallers and teutonics. and next year I will do it 3 hospitallers for Calenzano show. ciao friends, and happy new year from Luca at all planet members

Luca sent me an email of his switch to King Richard The Lion Heart.

Now that's interesting! I have to admit Lucs, I'll probably chicken out and paint it muck like you were going to the first time. Will you be adding Richard's Coat Of Arms? Just curious as I really don't know a lot about knights during this time.

Thanks,
Jim Patrick

Yes,

Really another aproch off a masterly sculpted figure. i like that. Not all the same knights on a show.
Great work, and i am very curious how it is gonna finish.
