Dear PF members,

The majority of photos of figures in magazines show the figure and portions of the groundwork. This is obvious as the photographer wants to focus on the figure and quality of painting.

Due to the distance from the USA and Europe I am unable to attend any figure shows and therefore I do not 'see' the entire presentation of figure modellers' work - by this I mean figure, groundwork, wooden base and name plate.

For me it would be very useful to see photos showing the 'entire presentation' figure, groundwork, wooden base and name plate. It would help me see types of base used and types of names plates etc. If it were possible could PF members please post some photos of their work showing the entire presentation.

Thanking everybody in advance.

A fair enough question that can be easily fixed. We can all surely do this with one shot of the entire figure. I'm sure we can help you with this Franco.

Hello Franco,
I will try and make that a habit. As my father-in -law and i make all my figure bases it would give him a day in the spotlight too. Here is one I took a quick pick of. There are better pics on my VB here at the site. I think you have a very good idea. Regards Brock

DEar PF Members,

Thank you for the response - that is exactly the type of photos I am interested in. Many thanks for the responses to date and will keep an eye out for these photos. Another reason why PF is such a great site.

Ciao

Nice to 'speak' to you Franco.

One thing I've learnt in this hobby is to consider the base BEFORE you start the figure!
Heaven only knows how many figures I've ruined by mounting them on totally inadequate bases......only to be sorry later.

After all, why go to all the time & trouble and end up mounting a figure on an old piece of fencing you found on a tip?

In other words, learn by my mistakes instead of your own - it's cheaper!

PS. Roy, what did the winner get?

Anthony...it was a figure raffle at our show a couple of years ago. All (most I should say) the visitors buy a handful of tickets and the winner got my figure...as seen above.
It's become a bit af a tradition now, to raffle one of the members figures.
It all adds a little more interest to the show.

Roy.
