Thanks Carl. Sadly the quality of historic programming here in Canada is atrocious. There couldn't possibly be room in the programming schedule on the History Channel for this documentary because that would mean one less episode of "Ice Road Truckers", or how would Canadians get on with their day without finding out about the lives of "Swamp People". I only wish the BBC would allow streaming of their online programs on this side of the Atlantic, then I could happily unplug my TV. So a thousand "thank you"s ! I will find some time this weekend to enjoy this.

I thought it was excellent.
Without spoiling it, the finale on Vimy is very poignant.

Cheers Zeno, I've always enjoyed the bagpipes, which I understand is an acquired taste, one I acquired after 10 years of taking my daughters to their highland dance competitions.

hi Barrie and Pedro; the original figure was done about 6 years ago, and I like to think my painting has progressed significantly. So it is highly likely I would have stripped him and repainted anyway, as this is what I do when my wife won't let me but any more new figures besides, I took this one to Euromilitaire in 2009, and he it didn't win anything. Doesn't everybody just bin their unsuccessful entries? ( just kidding!!!)

BBC Canada is a farcical channel, being mostly episodes of Mike Holmes Canadian home repair programs. And they wonder why folks pirate UK TV off YouTube!

Us too although it is cheaper to get on Netflix. My experience is that a very small amount of Jeremy Clarkson goes a very long way.

Hi Ray. What can I say, when inspiration seizes me, I work fast. Plus I start work again on Tuesday, so the pace of this should slow down accordingly. I actually have a lot of the paint done, just need to do the webbing equipment, and finish up the legs. I'll post pictures when the paintings all done. This one should definitely make the trip to Calgary.

I did see this part of the story as it was included in the original newspaper article. It is rare when you have a coloured picture of a key piece of equipment like this to use as a reference. No excuse for getting it wrong now is there!
