My oh my, were is this going! Down hill for sure! What started out as a sincere attempt by some planeteers including myself of pointing out some nasty fellows on the unmentionable auction site doing unmentionable things with another's creative ventures has turned in a nasty bar brawl with insults and f-words flying through the "debate". Netto result: one longtime supporter off in the woods and a moderator loosing his sang-froid, spewing f-words and ready to throw in his towel too, what a bunch of kids! Grow up guys! If ever in the exercise of your daily job you had totally unknown people firing live rounds at you and then had to threat them according to strict Geneva rules before handing them to the green slime, maybe you'd calm down and remember the essence and the true classic meaning of the word "forum", a place were opinions can be freely expressed without slaughtering your opponents! Putting up new threads and locking them to prevent further discussion i.e. not mortal combat, may be a moderator's prerogative but it isn't in the least democratic, so why don't you all, super moderators or not, cool down, take your pills or peruse of some fermented or distilled beverage and have a good night's sleep and prove to the silent modelling majority that you're capable of normal civilized interaction and you have a minimum of savoir-vivre!!!

This may help Richie

Please try and remember guys that this thread is a vote, not a discussion. Thanks.

Yes,......a very nice description of how to spot a recast......but if there are new releases on here or elsewhere over the last six months, but I cannot remember the originator, again back to my original question, how the hell are you supposed to inform them if you cannot remember who released them. Those figures I listed, I knew looked dodgy, but they are not figures I'm particually interested in. Now, if it were figures from my interest, I would know who to contact. So where do we post or who do we contact?

I contacted Steve Kirtley privately as I knew one of his was being done over, the only reason why I done this, I remember him bringing this particular figure to one of our club meets.

Does every moderator, know every release of figure and by whom? If so we will PM you.

Quoting chapter and verse Steve on how to spot a recast is evading the question, we are all adults, even us primates are fully grown and can spot a carrot in a bunch of banana's. I have met you on a number of occasions and have purchased figures from you. Believe me this is not personal, but a matter for the community as a whole. Where do we go to highlight the problem if we know it's wrong, but do not know whom to inform as the releaser, other than doing it publically!

So I vote YES. Until a better process is presented.

I know moderating is a difficult task, believe me I do it 365 days a year.

I bet you wouldnt say yes if it was your figure and this is to all the yes voters.

You dont have to put the link up just the picture...the manufacturer can then contact the person find out where it was sold and sort it.

Its the manufacturers responsibity and only they can resolve it.

Stuart

Hi Stu,
I have a put a figure up on here and intend to put a few more up in the future. If that is the answer, putting a picture up, then I would gladly do that. At the end of the day we are trying to protect you and others albeit in a nieve way, but we are trying to do good and are get shot down. We want a common solution......again, who do we contact if we do not know who released it, but know it is wrong!
I don't even look at 70% of the new releases, but I know a lemon when I see one. I'm not looking to fuel this thread, but get a common link to who we can tell in order to protect the likes of you.
cheers
Richie

An emphatic NO.....I confessed on that last deleted thread. It will only tempt the unaware beginner as I was when I started out a few plus years ago ........I really can't believe this crap is still going on.
Stu...you are right,it is up to the manufacturer to resolve the problem instead of getting some members so pissed off they quit the group....That is something else that I never thought I would see here.

I guess the words are true....''Better to be silent and thought a fool; Then to speak and remove all doubt"........
And I fit right in there as well...................Regards,.....Wayne...................(Can't wait till all this dust settles)

Poll now closed.

Final count: Yes = 10 No = 26 (with 0 "vanished" votes)

This thread has unfortunately gone off the rails so having slept on it (and feeling a bit calmer about things this morning after a thoroughly shitty day yesterday on various levels, not just pF-related) I've decided to unstick it, put it to bed and let it die a natural death.

I will leave to others the decision as to the best way to deal with the issue of recasting and whether or not to allow the posting of links to pirate eBay listings.

Steve, now the dust is settling, please re think a bit: The only thing happening so far is:

Planet Figure Members: Two casualties
Re-casters: Zero casualties

Heck, is the world spinning counterclockwise, and the wrong guys are winning? So, please step inside and the same goes to Keith as well. You edited my topics and I didn't cursed you or started crying I would leave PF, so please don't do the same as well.

Stu, please believe your customers that really love your stuff: Things are a bit like Richie is summing up: A climate of "see nothing | say nothing | hear nothing" at least has one advantage, that is what most members want: No problems will rise here, no casualties will happen, no feelings will be hurt. Only silence will remain...

But allow me me to quote Cornelius Tacitus: "silence is good for hypocrite peace while the empire falls apart"

You see, the dark side of the coin will continuously grow: From one re-caster seen last summer, that list from Kevin showed that you now have at least six new others to deal with, and at least one of them has an inventory I never thought it would be possible.

If the in-house solution to find peace on PF is silence, so let the silence come in and let silence be common ground. I respect Democracy the most I can and the majority as well. But please excuse my griping - if those eBay faxes don't work you are going to need all available hands to deal with this and you want to be the first to know. Not the last :(

Nicely put, it's reassuring that someone remembers his classics. From the same source, and as a warning to overeager moderators Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges : the more corrupt the state, the more laws. But then again dear old Tacitus hadn't the internet, however he knew a thing or two about the meaning of a forum and of democracy!

I prefer benevolent monarchy....but non-hereditary. Nothing is quite so democratic as a town full of outlaws with the sherriff gone home. Just kidding!
