Porter vignette

Hello everyone!
This is a little vignette I made mainly in order to try out a couple of painting techniques and working with foam board and various water effects. Overall height is 28 cm, height of the figure is about 15 cm.

The figure was sculpted in Chavant, cast in Acrylic One resin and painted with acrylics and oils.
The background is 1 cm foamboard: I removed the paper, textured the surface and painted it with acrylics.
For the water I made a plaster base over which I poured several thin layers of Vallejo Still Water - some of them tinted with acrylics - and then applied Liquitex Glazing Medium.

Strange but interesting. I'm not much into fantasy, but I like some of the effects you achieved like the speckled skin on the creature.

Is this WIP or final?

Suggestions about the water... If you'd make side borders which extend slightly above the top of the water, imo that would look better. Also, wouldn't water naturally form a series of slight rings around the raft?

Feel free to ignore the suggestions.

I'm not entirely satisfied with the way the way the water has turned out, so I'll definitely look at it again & see how I can improve it.

Haven't tried Vallejo Still Water and, while I've used a couple others, most of my experience is with Woodland Scenics 'Realistic Water' product. The latter can be used to make puddles or flowing streams or whatever. If you get the drying time just right it holds such changes nicely.

I found the Vallejo product easy to use - if a little time consuming given that it works best when you apply it in thin layers. I liked the fact that you can colour it (I used acrylic inks) and that there are virtually no bubbles.
Another option would be a two part resin or an epoxy glue but I haven't tried either.
