Not sure where you are sending from, Custer (USA?) but since 1st January, any goods sent from outside UK have new tax, customs and tariffs imposed on goods above a certain value, as I understand it. Goods that were sent before our exit from the EU have probably been held in some shed somewhere, so the authorities can cane us all for extra duty on goods. I'm awaiting parcels from Russia, Spain and France.....not holding out much hope for anything happening anytime soon. The Covid reason is just an excuse IMHO
Recipients of parcels or packets in the UK are supposed to be contacted to pay any extra duty ( Oh, yeah, don't hold your breath ) and after 3 weeks the parcels are returned to their point of origin. And, no, I don't suppose you can claim back any postage. If I'm reading all this wrong, no doubt someone will correct me......but basically, we are all screwed.

OK, Al's little rant over.

I'm waiting on a load of stuff as well. Got a Christmas card yesterday dated the 22nd December. Our Postie did say that their office has been decimated with C-19 related issues, this is probably behind most of it.

That covers every avenue .IE it might take longer ,it might not go due to each countries restrictions ,and as we are now outside the EU there are further restrictions .

To me it looks like postal deliveries outwith one's own country are best forgot about it at the moment .

In the last two days, since I posted previously, I have received my usual excellent service from Matt And Celine at ElGreco, plus a parcel from Russia from Vladimir Danilov (Polish Winged Hussar), posted on 7th. December. I suppose I should consider myself fortunate with all the awfulness going on....

Welcome to Brexit. The single biggest act of self harm in modern history.

But there is the funny side too. All those "expats" finding out that their status for living in places like Spain is now changed due to restrictions on movement...which many of them actually (and stupidly) voted for.

And no...I didn't vote for Brexit. I voted against on the basis that I don't trust the UK gov to not f*** the British people over. So far I haven't been proved wrong.

I agree wholeheartedly, old son( see my earlier post above). Now it seems that post from Russia is a no-no....unbelievable.
I will just add this,....Napoleon said that Europe must be united or it will perish. Yes, well......

People voted for Brexit due to immigration problems, Cameron wanted a bit of slack to slow down the control the flow, he was rebuffed rather rudely. That put everyones backs up including mine and so I voted to leave.

What we have now is what we have to get on with-it is causing problems on both sides of the water.

Covid has made Brexit irrelevant, the problem at the moment is that most governments have decided not to post to the UK either because of covid issues. I wish we were as quick to ban anyone from Brazil bring the new mutant in.......

.it is all a mess, but it seems reading the Press every Government in Europe is unpopular at the moment so I have no wish to be seen as making any political points one way or the other....we modellers are an inventive bunch and I'm sure we could cope if we didn't buy another kit for a year or two:rolleyes::rolleyes:

But remember Alan Great Britain was never part of Napoleons Europe. We were on the outside and this, for me, sums up the difference between Europe and the UK.

As for returned parcel I sent one to Kent at the beginning of December and had it returned before New Year, so it is not just DHL, and I know it was address properly as the replacement got through within 3 days.

Oh such fun we p[lay just to enjoy our hobby.

Stay safe and happy modelling :)

Well I sent a painted bust to Canada it took about 6 weeks to get there .

All properly pined, glued and very very carefully packaged and it arrived as if it had been booted up in down the customs office .
Head detached , back pack , and eagle off the staff , dont think I will ever send another completed model through the post ; in fact I won't .

Agreed Ron. I had a similar experience with a figure to S Africa. I spent two days designing a nuclear-proof package- it would have survived a direct hit from an '88 but it wasn't post office/customs proof.
