Hi All

This is the latest figure that I have managed to get finished. It’s from SGF Soldiers and is 54mm in scale. All painted in oils over the top of acrylics and a few touches of printer’s ink. The kit was a joy to assemble and paint.

Sorry for the poor photos still can’t seem to get it right after three attempts.
Any comments most welcome.

Cheers
Tommi

Great work Tommi,
Really like the red. How can I manage that??

marc

Hi Marc
The red cloak was primed then undercoated in Vallejo acrylic red with an air brush. The oil colour is cadmium red, thin layer applied then most of it wiped off to leave a thin film. Highlights were done in orange and the shadows done in Prussian blue with the deepest done in a mix of Prussian blue and black all done wet on wet, everything was blended with a flat chisel bush.
Hope this helps
See you next week
Cheers

very nice .how you paint the metals?

Hello Dim
The metal scale armor was undercoated in black acrylic then painted in antique gold Alclad paint with an airbrush. Each individual scale had the shadow applied using oil, old Holland sepia extra and black, the highlights were done in printers inks using a mixture of gold and adding silver to the mix to lighten.
Hope this helps(y)

See you sunday

Thanks for your comments Mike. Not really ever got to grips with the acrylics, its all been a bit experimental and I think I am really set in my ways using oils after nearly 30 years so will stick with oils as my main medium but will incorporate acrylics into my figures where I feel confident enough to. I can paint faster I oils too and get more enjoyment pushing them around that using the layering technique of acrylics.

Hi Tommi,
nice work on painting the plated armour as with the rest of the figure.
regards
andy.
PS John Belcher is on his way to Euro and will meet up with the PF guys.

Took some more photos last night which I think are better than the first ones at the beginning of the thread.
