Hi everybody,

I have a question. I recently started with a resin figure of Joh Smith Modellbau (Saxon Jager). I noticed that, compared to another figure of the range, that this specific figure has a kind of grainy resin surface (maybe anyone noticed this too). What is the best (and easiest) way to deal with this kind of surface? Dremel tool? Toothbrush? I do not believe the primer (thinned mrSurface 1000) is the problem because I also primed another figure of the same range in the same airbrushing session. This last figure came out very smooth and silky.

Hope you have some ideas!

Cheers!

Just need to check, at the same time, same distance etc?

Even minor differences can affect the way primer goes down unfortunately, just backing off a short distance can be enough to cause some additional grain. Also if there was settling in the AB after figure #1 was sprayed the primer coming out for figure #2 can be a different consistency.

The only way to know for sure if it is the resin underneath is to strip off a bit of primer and have a look at the resin surface. If it's rough then you'll know.

If it turns out it is the primer layer you can smooth it off a little bit in a couple of ways but if the texture is fairly intrusive IME it's best to strip it off and reprime I'm afraid.
