Hi Zastro thanks for the photos, yes was sad for the French but 2nd Empire is great for Uniforms. the Zaouve will also with a little conversion do as an ACW Zaouve. lots of scope for this one.
yes conversion to make ACW Zouave will be great, but conversion to make Zouave in Crimea will be greater.
Do not forgot it's that the take of Malakoff redoubt by French Zouave which allowed the Allied victory in the Crimea.
Malakoff Redoubt
And you could also choose a conversion for making Zouaves Pontificaux
The régiment des Zouaves pontificaux was part of the army of the Papal States. This unit was raised from Roman Catholic volunteers from various countries, mainly France and Belgium. There was a significant Canadian contingent from Quebec. The original Zouaves were a famous French colonial unit recruited in North Africa, and the zouave style was very fashionable during the 1860s. Reconstruction by Ron Volstad. The régiment des Zouaves pontificaux were in the French army after the desaster of the Imperial one in 1870, fighting against Prussian armies as "Volontaires de l'Ouest.

Any idea just how much our wallets will be hurt by this one?
