Hi Folks,

Here is a 75mm piece I sculpted for Frank Miniatures a few weeks ago.
Frank has asked me to post some images, so here he is!

He depicts Uhtred of Baddenberg, a semi fantasy character from the Bernard Cornwell books.
Not to be confused with Hugh Cornwell (lead singer of the Stranglers) :);)

It's not a subject I know much about if I'm honest, but it was specifically requested by Frank!
All I had to go on was a couple of pages of text, briefly describing some of his costume, the rest was made up.
As I understand it he was loosley based a on a real person.

Anyway guys I hope like him and thanks for looking!

Pete Morton sculpted a Lord Derfel Cadarn in 200mm. With luck it may yet see the light of day.

Nicely sculpted Uhtred,

Superb work Carl, looks like Frank is going to be busy at Euro.
Now to find out more about the character (and about the Stranglers)

Carl, I'm always amazed how inspiring your sculpts are... I have absolutely no interest in this historical period, but this figure makes me want to get it anyway. Great stuff, you are one of the most talented sculptors in this hobby. Keep 'em comming!

Awesome sculpt, Carl!
I just finished the last book in this series (Death of Kings) and I think Uhtred Ragnarrson has overtaken both Richard Sharp and Harry Flashman as my favorite literary character. Your sculpt has definitely done the character justice and truely brought him to life. I have always loved the Viking era and Norse culture (I know Uhtred is a born Saxon, but he's more Dane than the real Danes) but so far haven't touched on it from a modelling standpoint... This figure will change that... As soon as I get my hands on it!

Bravo on a beautiful piece

Colin

Thanks Guys for all your generous comments!
I know almost nothing if anything about the subject, so I have to bow to your superior knowledge.
When I made this Frank and Pete Shaw provided me with various bits of information on the subject and the character. I'm just pleased I managed to create something that fits the character in the books.
I think the only I say at this point is PHEW!!!! :)

Thanks again Guys!

Carl

Well, my advice is be prepared to read them all, as you wont want to put the books down. Awesome series, and this is a great scuplt as usual. Have often pictured Uthred in my mind and now this will be the image I have, perhaps charging from the shield line.
Side note watched a show the other night about Alfred beating back the Saxons and kept wanting to say "yea, he wouldnt have done it without Uthred!!!" LOL

Carl,
Stunning! Looks exactly as I pictured Uhtred in my mind reading all the books, wielding the mighty Serpent-Breath.
Beautiful, absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!
