Here is the second version of my never ending quest to sculpt a decent Union infantryman from Fredericksburg, 1862. I think this one is better then the first one, but might have to do a third at some point! Aaaaaaaaah!!!

Hornet Head, Shenandoah rifle, sculpted with Magic Sculpt, Duro and Lead Foil.

Nice work, Anders.
One small thing...and I'm sure you'll take care of it when painting time rolls around. The grass will be 'winter-killed' and much more brown or yellow-gray than green.
You sculpted the hands? Very nice and well-done.
Are you and Doug Cohen in a race to see who can sculpt and paint the most figures before the end of the year?
;-)

Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

I try to stay busy, this figure has been a work in progress for some time and I just now decided to finish it up while working on another figure. Once you get over the procrastination hurdle, it doesn't take all that long to sculpt a figure!

Jim,

Yes, the grass will be painted accordingly to the weather at Fredericksburg. Im going to try to make it as cold looking as possible!

As far as competing with Doug...Hah! I'd never stand a chance in that battle, maybe next year though!

The left hand is a resin casting of a hand I've previously done, the fingers were sculpted on the right hand holding the rifle butt using a resin hand blank as a base.

Thank you Luca, it was a little tricky to get the pose where I wanted it, but I like to take some extra time when posing mannequins to atleast try to get it as good as I can. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't!
