Good day everybody,
Nello Rivieccio modeled a new mounted figure for Frank-Miniatures.
I am happy to introduce the new 54mm and 75mm Uhlanen.
The figure comes in these two scales and has two different heads to paint a version with Shako or Chapska. The figure is cast in resin and was designed as 3d. The first kits will be available in March. Advance orders are accepted. PM via facebook Frank Konetzke.I hope you like the figure. Many thanks to Nello for the great work.
See you soon Frank

Absolutely wonderful figure. Exceptional sculpting and has real character.
Congratulations.

Would be even nicer in 90mm and/or 120mm for the dim-sighted among us ;)

That's interesting-I didn't know any Prussian Uhlans wore the death's head on their headgear. Or is that for a Brunswicker? I do concede that I'm not as up on the Napoleonic Wars as on the Seven Years War.

Prost!

It's a nice figure, however I'm with the baron on this with respect to the deaths head. His uniform does not conform to the 3 Ulan regiments or to the Garde Eskadron. I can only assume he is modelled on one of the many volunteers and freikorps. The shako should be leather reinforced felt and the cockade is not Prussian at all, the czapka has no cockade at all. A shame as it is a nice subject.
Sorry

Hello.
The figure is not about the 3rd regiment or the guard, the figure was born as a 6th cavalry regiment, First army corp ( Zieten). And actually is based on the uniform wore by the Lutzow's Frei Korps at Waterloo .The Lutzows were all volunteer as you know , and they were included in the 6th regiment of cavalry (Uhlans) but still wearng their uniforms , wich was made of military items , like the Litewka and a lot of private items , and they had shakos. There were different shakos also , many captured by the french , some donated from allied states (russians) and some self made even in cardboard. This was because the lack of supplies in the Prussian organizzation was really catastrophic. All the items captured were over painted in black. The death head on the shako was conmon for the Lutzow's Frei Korps. The choice to add a plain chapska , without any symbol, was made to give the opportunity to have a different regiment likes the Bremen or the kurmak variation.

My figure has different civilian items like the weist belt and even the cape and the greatcoat.

Courcelle made different subjects of the Lutzow's Frei Korps at waterloo (attached pics) , all based on the Freiberg's manuscript, were there are combination of both shakos, with and without the death head, I simply liked the death head :)

Thank you , glad you like It

Hi Brancaleone, thanks for the additional information and clarity. I'm familiar with Lutzows freikorps and now understand the "inconsistencies". The pictures will help enormously with the portrayal. Personally I would have liked it to be from a regular Ulan regiment but I can see that it will be popular as it is a well presented figure.
Thanks and congratulations

Thank you so much Melanie.
The oddity on the Prussian army of the time are quite a few. For the reason I told you before.... Simply they had almost no equipments left at all,. Many regiment were all volunterrs, and one of the reason why they had more lancers then any other army in their ranks, was just because the firearms were not enough even for the regular troops ( and this is also why I decided to avoid to place an hanging musket) so they had the lances, easy to produce and cheap.

Once again thank you !!! ;)
