This is a 54mm figure of one of Quantrill's raiders from Thunderbird miniatures. Quantrill's raiders were a group of bushwhackers (version of guerrilla warfare) who fought for the confederacy in the American Civil War. They operated primarily in Missouri and Kansas.

My father bought this figure a while ago and asked me to paint it for him. After serving its time in the grey army I'm finally getting around to painting it. I actually started last year and didn't like how it was turning out. So I stripped it the other week and started over.

The box art gave him striped pants. I haven't painted striped clothing before and figured it'd be a good challenge. All comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for taking a look.

Pretty good so far, the stripes have turned out just fine. I like red on the double-breasted blouse.
Keep us posted... out of curiousity, what's going to be in the right hand? A sword,a rifle... a parasol?

Cheers

Colin

Looking really good so far. Sure your dad will be pleased. Don't think I've seen another attempt at this one yet, so this is a treat. (y)

Thank you all. I appreciate the encouragement.

Colin... hmmmm, a parasol would be an interesting conversion. Kind of an anti-confederacy statement. The figure is intended to be holding a shot gun. The butt of it is supposed to rest against the saddle, so I'm waiting until I fix him and the saddle to the horse so I can get the proper fit.
