Question about Tartan Colors on the Pipe's

I'm almost there with te bust of Carl Reid "Gordon Highlander Piper".
I painted the cover of the pipebag in the Tartan from the Gordon Highlanders:

As goos as it is, I finished this one. Started with the cords between the drone's and in my research I found this picture:

As you all can see there is a great difference between the bag and the cords.
What is right:
- should I paint the cords the same as the bag
- should I paint the cords the same as in the picture.

Hey Mark, you missed out big time last weekend. The World Pipes and Drums Championships were held in Glasgow. 250 Pipe bands and 80.000 punters watching.

Field Marshall Montgomery from Northern Ireland were winners of group one and they wear a cord between the drones with a cord ribbon. They are a civilian band though so perhaps the army wear tartan ribbons across the pipes.
