spot onGraham - don't let all those show offs who paint in the wood grain put you off. I have seen plenty of period long arms with dark varnish and no visible grain.

Dear Graham,
There is a painted version here by Paul, this has the covered shako but 2 heads are provided in the kit.

The figure also comes with painting instructions, as you mention we too have not seen many painted versions although Graham hopes to paint this one in the future.
Please message if we can help in any way and thank you for all your support of CGS
Painting the grain graham is entirely up to you mate, some painters do it and some don't,i like to paint the grain but I'm no show off because of itspot on
I don't think the comment 'show off' was meant in a derogatory way. If you have the skill to do it well then do it. The advice was aimed at me not to think if I don't have that skill then it doesn't mean I shouldn't at least do what I can.
Trust me, if I learn how to do the grain right, I will 'show it off ' it is good that this forum welcomes all levels of painting skills. It is that welcome and willingness to share that has got me as far as I am for which I am grateful to everyone that has supported and advised me get on to the first rung of the very long ladder to becoming a good painter.
Hi Graham, glad you see it that way, some modellers like to incorporate it in the weapon painting and some don't,it's purely an individual's prefranceI don't think the comment 'show off' was meant in a derogatory way. Hi Graham Go for it it's a great bust and I'm sure you will enjoy it. don't forget you are doing this for yourself and your enjoyment. the more you do the more skill you will gain. don't worry about others do it for yourself and if you are enjoying it then it's been worth while. if at some point you feel you could improve on it then return to it and touch up the areas that you feel could have been better. or just look at it as a reference point to see how far you have come. but what ever you do enjoy the piece.
