I have known you for many years mate. But I totally and utterly disagree with you on this. Lets stop calling bargain hunting. Because we all know what it is. Your buying stolen/ counterfeit property.
As for the prices being charged by manufacturers. As some kind of justification is utter follie. We was paying £40 for a bust 20 years ago.
If you think about value for money, the hours and hours spent, reasearching, thinking about the idea the painting, the presentaion etc. This is actually a cheap hobby. Not expensive at all!
If you eqate it to the money spent by golfers, fishermen etc. It doesn't even come close.

This is a great idea Stu, and good proactive way of going about making the recasters life as difficult as possible.
But I think it has operate behind the lines. It has to done private message basis.
if anyone stumbles upon a recaster, send a private message to the manufacturers. Then the manufacturer sends to everyone privately. Effectively creating a private database of recasters By doing this you effectively strangle there source of product.

But it has to be done behind the scenes.

I tell you this , Polish recasters are now't compared to the damage the Poles have done to the building industry. and we brits are to blame for employing them and driving down tradesmen's rates .
Everywhere in this country there is an infiltration from banking to roadsweepers destroying our economy .
At times when I quote for a job I get told the Poles will do it for half the price , my reply is the Pikeys will do it for half as much again : better still do it your bloody self .

I know all tolerance has gone and it's time to retire

To be perfectly honest,i never knew of any recaster,s until i read about the problem on this .I buy my figures from the legitimate sellers and always have.It may cost more but i don't mind in the slightness, as i believe this a very tight knit hobby ,who are my friends as well as my dealers.Lots of free advertising on Planet for the fraudsters though.
I think shaming these people would be better done by PM's.

Ron, you've been watching "Prejudice" again, haven't you?

"Miserable, fat Belgian bastards!"

Prost!

Till my greatest astonishment the recasters are alowed to figureshows.
In Ransart we saw a company (didn't know the name) with only recasted bust's from Andrea, Verlinden and Pegaso, and sell these for € 22,-.
In my opinion the organizers should banisch this guys.

Marc
The show should be boycotted by modellers if that is the case Marc, it won't ever happen. But it should be made public that the organisers allow this, have you told pegaso, they are on this forum. Who organises the show, I wonder what manufacturers think though as there is no reason to attend in this case aswell as the legal implications of theft.
I would have thought that would be incentive for the organisers to get to the bottom of this

I am astounded to hear this Marc!!
To think that a recaster is invited and allowed to sell counterfeit product openly at a show is disgusting!
I have to assume the organisers were unaware. Because if they were aware this is a very worrying development indeed!

There has to be record of this trader, and organisers should made to deal with them. Or at least duty to inform all the companies effected by these people, and pass on the relative details. To be dealt with accordingly!

Carl

It surely means it is time for organizers to make traders sign a legal agreement that all products sold are licensed and legitimate products.

I know of a story when a modeler came to a big known manufacturer during a show, congratulated on certain figure and shown own painted version.
To manufacturers surprise, the figure wasn't quite their standard of casting so they inquired where it was bought.

The modeler replied, oh, not from you guys, from a local fellow down the road......Person knew it was a recast, didn't see anything wrong . And there were other recasts sold on same show, although I think it was quickly hushed.

That's what you are dealing with, folks.

Hence my above post Gaudin, stamping out recasts at shows can be done easily, we just need to look and take action. I will be looking at every show now and I won't be subtle if I see any for sale , I put money on it that at least half a dozen people I know will be doing the same. To be honest I would be very surprised if it happened in the uk at shows with uk traders, we are too small a community over here .

.
Gaudin,

I retracted my comment, so as not to inflame .. However, I do still believe in my phrase of letting 'Sleeping-Dogs-Lie'. :cautious:

Mark:LOL:
It's alright Mark, unfortunately it is becoming all the more reason why sadly PF is not the place it used to be. I know I am not alone with getting sick and tired of the constant jibes and tongue in cheek sarcasm that is just out to fuel or start an argument. And that isn't bruised ego, just had enough mate. I ain't sure if it's jealousy or just people have to much time on their hands but I have better things to do.

Every damn single day there's something new from the recaster's world! I just wonder who on earth purchases a Verlinden recasted bust for €22.00!!! :p :hilarious: :wacky: :hungover: To some morons out there I just say wake!!! I mean WAKE!!! :stop: See how much the originals cost first!

But speaking of recasts, at my own risk, I am going to post a link of a recast:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-10-resin-...455663560?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item4d2c4c0dc8

I BOUGHT A TRUE ORIGINAL OF THIS MINIATURE CHEAPER THAN THIS!!!

Is Earth spinning counterclockwise or what? Frigging lunacy is reaching a new status - counterfeits pricier than originals and people willing to buy them!
