Funnily enough there is a pretty damning review on Amazon about the Franklin book and it has also received reviews elsewhere concerning it's accuracy.

Hi Roger,

I think you are always going to have people question the accuracy of books on uniforms worn 250 years ago. The question I ask is - how accurate are the comments of the reviewers when they claim something is wrong, and where did they get their information from? Bit of a minefield. Reading the three negative reviews, two were worthless one and two liners, while the lengthy one was a tirade - which are always suspect. The book has a lot more positive reviews, and the blurb says it was based on contemporary documents. I look forward to receiving the copy I ordered, and I appreciate the heads up from Brad and yourself.

Cheers
Chris

Those were exactly my feeling Chris. It's all well and good saying something is wrong but without providing evidence to the contrary and where you acquired that evidence it is worthless.
