I was surfing around today (I spent enough time messing up on a figure) and found this site. If you haven't seen it, check it out. I tried to add it to the reference section but couldn't. Gordy, could you do this please? It's chock full of pics of actual uniforms from the Napoleonic period. If you paint figures from this era, you'll get a kick out of it.

Excellent resource - thanks! Make sure you follow all the links as the detailed photos with closeups of many of the uniform details are very easy to miss and there is a gold mine in there. There are more photos to come as he expands the site too.

I visited the Musee 25 years ago and made the msitake of only have a 36 exposure of slide film and a 24 of B&W prints. I got great pix but not enough and they are hard to use as a resource.

This is great - I hope he visited the Brunon collection too (if its even still there in the Chateau de L'emperi (sp?)).

Here's another link to some good photos of actual Napoleonic relics (including a named Polish Napoelonic general's uniform & Poniatowki's actual saddle?).

If you go to the root directory, there are other countries too. BTW I found this link by using the image search function (in advanced mode) under google - I never used to use that but you can find some cool sitesthat way.

Terrific! I finally get to see what the actual color was on a polish lancer as far as crimson/scarlet is concerned.

Thanks, Jim
