Hi Peter

Good afternoons work there at the bench

Good suggestion from Steve ref adding some green to the greatcoat

A real good idea ref the helmet as well

.....look forward to seeing how it's going to look....perhaps at a jaunty angle ?

....will you have the straps loose and hanging down !

Look forward to more from this ...the story is being told well in this concept

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Hi Guys - thanks for all the positive support.

Nap - I'm not doing a version with the helmet, but because I am providing a second, full head, the helmet can be fitted at any angle.

here is an update on yesterday evening's work:

Hi Peter

Had to laugh when you mentioned my name ref helmet ....lol ...you must be physic!

It's looking really good ...the best yet from Sarnia ...IMO of course

If anything I would dirty the bandage up more ....that's me ! ....but I suppose he could have had it changed before getting on the train

Look forward to seeing more

Looking great so far Peter. Put mine together last night and just waiting for a bit of filling to dry before undercoat. Out of interest, the colour that you painted the carriage door, was that representing a particular train company colour or were passenger trains “dulled down” with drab colours for camouflage purposes at that period of the war?

Hi Peter

Looking forward to seeing the completed version

I also think this would be good with a few additions of putty .....

Rework the hair to being more unkept and straggly

Open a pocket up , maybe a torn sleeve

On painting : dirty them up , 5 o'clock shadow , bags under the eyes through lack of sleep

Just my thoughts ...plenty of potential to really lift this already good piece

Happy benchtime

Hi Guys

finally got back to this project, a little distracted by some shopping - very strange going into B&Q without queing, and no social distancing, although people are still keeping their distance where possible.

finished painting and used some crushed pastels to deepen some shadows as well as add highlights to the front figure so he stands out a bit more from the others. i tyink I have over done the o'clock shadow - more like 25 o'clock shadow! i suppose they could have gone a week or so without shaving.

Hi Peter

Good to see this completed

The heavy growth is I suppose possible , but a little heavy for my taste

If I may I think you should tone down the highs on face on front figure

It's a great idea and certainly something not seen released before

Thanks for sharing

HI Nap

the 5 o'clock shadow is a little heavy for my tasts as well! May revisit it but I am nervous about making a complete hash of trying to correct it!

Agree wouldn't be easy ....for me at least ! ......you could remove head and Dettol it and then repaint ...only saying !

i'll give the dettol a miss, fortunately I can cast another head, and I may revisit it in a while. Also, the kit now comes with a spare head for the front figure so everyone can have two goes at the head.
