Well as threatened here is the first of the bunch.
A magnificent bust of a 3rd Century Roman Cavalry Officer from Young Miniatures.
Not one for the faint hearted but if you feel like having a go I can heartily recommend it.
Just about every texture you can think of, a real painters piece and without doubt one of my most satisfying painting experiences. Pretty straightforward assembly but caution is required particularly with the very finely sculpted feathered crest.

I've been trying a few new (to me) techniques on recent work and on this one it was sweat.
Hopefully you can see it. This was done by taking a deep breath and applying small dots of Microscale krystal Kleer.

A couple of other shots just for the hell of it.

As always comments, suggestions and any questions always welcome.

Looks great. I love the leather textures, and he definitely looks sweaty (y)

Great job Del, I'm doing this guy at the moment. Anticipating getting paint into the crevices on the inside of the crest is going to be fun

Del,
Great job, The intensity on that fiz og is out of this world.
I take it the sweat brought on blood and tears.

Billy, Colin, Phil, Claude, Graham, Dejan, Mick, Wayne, Marc, Oda, Adrian and Francesco thanks to you all for your encouragement.
The sweat really was the acid test, pretty much no way back so if any of you fancy having a go, practice and less is more.
Cheers

Stands up well in the large photo, a real testament to the quality of the painting. Superb work Del!

Great job! Specially like the idea for the sweat drops. Do you think it could work on smaller scales (54/75mm)?
thanks!
