Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could please give me some of there thoughts, ideas or advice? I am trying to build a diorama of gladiators fighting in the coliseum. So my question is how to building the coliseum? I am not sure if I want just the arena or the whole coliseum. I am going to use 54mm figures. Any suggestions on this would be great! Thanks!
Ron

The entire Coliseum? You consider that only elliptical arena measuring 86 to 54 mt and that the dimensions of building were 188 x 156 mt!
make the bill of that size would only arena compared to the scale of 54mm!

Unless you intend to turn your home into a mini coliseum I think you might need to scale down a bit , what about picking a piont that is recognisable such as the gates in the wall where the gladiators emerge from or the post where victims were chained to be savaged by wild beasts . Another route to go would be a small provincal towns arena whose walls would have been made from thick wooden planking

The Colloseum in 54mm would take up a large room in your house (and 5 years of your life). That's a very ambitious concept, but not necessary if your intention is to show off gladiators fighting.

As Gordon and Robert suggest, you should probably scale back your ambitions and focus on recreating a smaller section of the walls around the arena, a gate or even just the sandy floor.

The focus of your piece should be the gladiators, not the arena, so think about how you can create the impression of an arena, without actually having to recreate it in its entirity.
