Roman Horn Blower (Cornicen)

A new project recently completed. I ran a brief WiP thread for this, that can be found in that forum.

A DF Military figure in resin, at 200mm including ‘turned effect’ plinth. The lower ‘distressed’ base is from Model Display Products, and I’ve finished it in a marble effect. The sculpt is currently discounted by DFM, partly I think because the shield illustrated in site photos is no longer available due to a technical issue (DFM state this is the case). With shipping, the price is about £30.

I decided to scratchbuild a shield instead. Not sure if I’ve placed the sword and shield correctly as site photos simply show both set out in front of the sculpt, unattached, but as there are recesses either side of the torso I’ve gone with that.

The red straps/ties seen here with the sword and shield are simply doubled foil strips, for effect.

All in all an unusual piece, but with a dramatic look, I think.

Cracking piece Robbo, even better seeing it head on rather from above. It's really a very impressive piece and done so quickly to boot, what's next.
