Lovely looking figure but is it me or have they mounted the drum upside down?

Cheers

Yes Huw they have. Its for our Australian Brethren. But its still a nice little figure.

Thanks Mick - saw it on my phone so better ask first rather than post first!! It's a pretty basic error for a reputable manufacturer thought it's a great looking figure.

I'm sure that the antipodean PR fraternity will be happy.

Cheers

I love this, I got mine thanks to a pal who brought it back from Bruno, who had a few at the Monte san Servito show last November, thanks again Mario Del Gardo.
It is totally gorgeous , the detail is very crisp, the figure is in metal, the drum in resin.
Because of the mistake outlined above, the mould feeders
for the resin are in the top of the drum skin, but
nowt that a skim of filler cannot sort when they are
clipped away.

My brushes are raring to go, but I have to wait awhile
before painting mine.

Like Paul mentioned in his post above Mario also brought mine back from the show-how they made such a cock up with the drum defeats me but it is a lovely figure.

Like you Guys I am cheesed off seeing figures that are so good but for me ruined by inverted drums.
I don't know about you chaps but in my 50 years of researching musical I have not seen an image of a side drum carried this way.
Mario is an absolute genius at sculpting miniatures and I would like to understand where he is getting his ref reference from.
It is so disappointing.
Ranting over all the best,
Keith

I wouldn't want to upset you enjoying a rant Keith :).

Bruno said at the time it was an oops moment and it's
honestly easily rectified on the kit.
the mounting plug for the drum is at the 1/2 way point...so perfect to just swivel and glue.
one question for you please.
Would you add underslung carry slings or was that a modern affection to dress a drum?

Cheers

Paul.
Just shows the master is human methinks.

Cheers Paul
Back on terra firma now.
Its good to know that the lug is central to the drum. I guess that it's just assembly then requiring no mould change.
As I say these are superb pieces and are already on my wish list behind four big and one little projects on the bench.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Mate.

Well...I asked Francesco Sapienza, the very talented painter of this box art (...a good friend of mine) Why the drum is upside down and he has told me that this was a common practice in campaign. The drummers used to reverse their instruments when the upper surface broke for heavy use. So he painted the drum this way to rapresent such "usual" manner to carry it...

Well if you drop a goolie its always worth trying to cover it up. But why not put it down to a slight technical error.
Mick

A very nice figure despite the drum mistake. Never heard of drummers reversing the drum when damaged, but it does make sense. I think if the drum is left alone that the drummer will need to be weathered as well. Just my two cents.
