I found out about this forum from a couple of friends and was staggered by the quality of the figures and helpful information. I hope you like my first attempt at sculpting from scratch. The bust is approximately 1/9 scale and was made with sculpting clay for the head and A&B two part putty for the clothing. The figure was painted with a combination of enamels and oils (sometimes a mixture of both). I still need to finish painting the shoulder boards and add the goggles. I will hit the clothing areas with Humbrol flat.

Regards

Dave

Wonderful portrait of Rommel Dave. I think this is a better sculpt than any of the commercial busts I've seen. Absolutely superb job! I particularly like the angular bottom - very imaginative and artistic!. But best of all it just looks like Rommel - not an easy thing to do in any scale.

The cap is spot on and the face brings across Rommel's seriousness to his profession but also his humanity.

Cheers and keep it up.....please!

Dave, What a fantastic job on the Rommel bust. I too like the angular cut across the figure. Welcome to Planet figure, I'm sure you'll enjoy your visits.~Gary

Thank you both for your comments. I will be working out of town for the next couple of weeks, but I hope to finish the bust when I get back.

WOW,WOW,WOW (y) (y) (y) !!! An EXCELLENT rendition of the man himself !! WELL DONE and welcome to the "planet". Cheers !

Good job on the face Dave (y)

Not that the rest of it is chopped liver  but Rommel has a subtle face and it must be difficult to capture a likeness.

Dave:

That is a truly superb likeness!!! You nailed him! I have tried my hand at Rommel, and found his features somewhat elusive. You however have got the relationship of all the features just right. Bravo!

Welcome to the Planet and I hope to see more of your work.

Tom
