This is the old Rose Miniatures figure of Roustan Raza, Napoleon's bodyguard. Needless to say, the casting is nowhere near the quality of the new figures. Overall I somewhat pleased on how this one turned out. Let me know what you folks think. Don't worry about being kind, I can take it. Acrylic paint and inks.

Hi Charles

Great to see you posting and a blast from the past , Rose Miniatures , your version looks good despite the age of the casting

I would define the sleeve lacing more , but that's me

Thanks for sharing hope we see more from you soon

Happy benchtime

Hi skeeterbuck

The rose casting looks very good despite its age. I think that the shoulders are slightly undersized, the left elbow is too rounded and the back folds of the pants are not as well sculpted as the front folds.

Despite this, your painting of it is excellent, bringing the figure to life. The face is especially magnificent!

Thanks Nap for your input. I can understand what your saying about the lace. I am always conscious when painting lacing, cords etc. to try and make it not as bold as a similarly painted metal surface. I should have maybe have outlined the lace with a shadow shade of green before applying the dark gold base to the lace areas. Something I keep in mind going forward.

Thanks blaster for your input. The figure casting does have it's "issues" despite being approximately 50 some years old. The back of the pants definitely was a weak area. The face also, where I needed to paint in some details to try and enhance the contrast. Also agree that the left elbow appears too curved.
