6 parts

I received in the mail today 2 of Roy Hunt’s newest releases. The first review will be on the 114th Pennsylvania ( Collis’ ) Zouave.

The bust is comprised of 6 parts including the wire to make the 2 cords of the tassle. A simple twisting together of the 2 wires makes the tassel.

The chest is beautifully detailed with actual texture sculpted into the jacket as well as the immense detail Roy has given the piping (braid) of the jacket. The strap has also been given texture which makes the end result after painting jump out with detail.

The only seam line I found on any part was underneath the chest piece which can be quickly be removed with a hobby knife. I found no visible seam / casting lines anywhere else on the parts.

The bust pillar is a separate part and can be pegged to the bottom of the chest leaving the option of a brass rod that could also be used (not included).

Below we see the separate casted tassel and the 2 wires that easily twist into the cord and attached to the back of the fez and to the top of the tassel.

Now to the beauty of this kit. It comes with 2 optional heads. 1 with facial hair and sideburns and the other clean shaven……..awesome.

The following photos show the detail and texture that Roy has sculpted into both heads.

Again, I mention the main difference being the longer sideburns along with the goatee and mustache one has while the other has a clean shaven look. Excellent facial muscle sculpted into both heads. Clearly I shall paint both heads and make my decision afterwards which one to use.

Above, a side by side comparison is seen after I drilled the bottom of each head and pegged it to a dowel rod ( used later for painting.)

Close-ups of the side of each head shows the attention to detail Roy has carefully given each optional head.

Conclusion: This has got to be one of the finest busts to become available in the many years I have been examining figures and busts. Highly recommended for all the ACW fans. Congratulations Roy on a beautifully sculpted Collis’ Zouave……..outstanding work.

Marc,
don't think too long - snatch this one up! I can't believe the delicate details, and all the texture Roy has managed to get into this piece. The addition of the second head sealed it for me. A great value, and should paint up marvalously!
