Miss Roza Shanina, combat soldier

Ken:

You've gotten off to a great start. . . from that very fine photo of the young
combat soldier. It was midway thru the last century, and I was just a young
boy in shorts and knee socks. . . before the age of tennis shoes, (or
sneekers as we now call them) so it is easier to forget about all the human
sacrifices made. . . but for me that photograph brought so much of it back.

I will be eager to see this fine figure develop, as time moves forward.
So I see this as more than just your latest sculpting effort, In my view,
it is also an appropriate way to pay tribute to a hero, to honor her
"last full measure of devotion" — as this dangerous 'business'
took the life of a very young woman.

Best regards to you Ken,

Jayhawk of the American Heartland

Beautiful sculpt happeneing here....she was very pretty.
A great close up of her face and braided hair in the Osprey book, as you know I'm sure.
Shows her awards and rank boards, very detailed.
Great idea.

Dimitrios, many thanks

Steve, I never sleep :)

Tom, thanks again for the picture you impatient sod .;)

Rick, she was a hero alright.

Phil , she was a bit of a stunner and a very interesting character, just read her nickname was " Horny " :)

Cheers Ken

Christos, thanks for the comment and glad you like her, just waiting for the MS to dry and will be posting final pics later.
Cheers Ken

Finished Roza Shanina.

Now completed, I had a setback as the outer casing of one of the ball bearing which I use for the eyes cracked. I mention it because on the photos she has one black and one white eye which is the repair with MS.

The Mosin sniper rifle was supplied by Steve (1969) of Reedees Miniatures. Thanks again mate.
Many thanks for looking and all comments and critique much appreciated.

Cheers Ken

Wow Ken, thats some skillful sculpting. I am looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

She looks really good! I'd never heard of using ball bearings for eyes, but it makes sense. Thanks for the tip.

FANTASTIC WORK MATE. THE MOISIN NAGANT ARE VERY REALISTIC.
This lady is going to be release by Mil-Mart Miniatures?

Sam, John, James, Mak and Pedro many thanks guys for looking in and the comments.
Pedro the Mosin was scratch-built by the very talented Steve Readdie (1969 ) and yes It will be released but not sure when.

Cheers Ken

Having this beautiful piece in my hands yesterday, I can confirm that it is a brilliant rendition of the photo. This is definitely going into my collection next year. Good luck with it selling Ken and I will be sending you some more inspirational photos tomorrow.
( I should be on commission really)
Tom

About bloody time mate !!!!
I knew you would be good at this 1/16 malarkey mate, really nice result Ken she looks great.

Whats next a 1/48 version :p

lovely job mate

Steve

I'm pleased to see that you modelled her with the butt of the rifle on the toe of her boot as in the photo'. It adds "something" that a bland "order arms" pose really wouldn't have done.

Marcel, may thanks.

Steve, cheers mate I told you she'd make your rifle look good :p ... or was it the other way round. I think 20mm might be next...NOT

Harry, glad you approve, the only liberty I took with the photo was to add the beret as in lot of her pictures shes portrayed in one.

Cheers Ken
