Hi Everyone,

Here is my quick review of the RP War Elephant that I received early this week.
Overall excellent casting and superb detail. After spending some time checking on the parts, there are some issues on my kit.
1. There is one link of chain missing on the elephant belly belt.
2. One half of the elephant does not match up on its back.
3. There is a mystery black line crack on the elephant head.
There are numerous parts for this kit. So take your time and it will be a magnificent piece in your collection.
Congratulate to Hugo and the RP team for producing this extraordinary kit.
Thanks to El Greco for fast international shipping.

Cheers,

Felix

Hello Mr. YellowCat

Thank you so much for your words... Im very happy because you like it... Your words are the fuel for we can improve and do better and better... But Ive to confess... A big piece like this I think we dont do it anymore... This is the first and it will be the last one... Its very big and its very complex... But its a unique piece in a collection, in my opinion of course... Its because of that I developed... It will be fantastic to have this piece in the office... I putted mine near the door, with Bustorama Concept...

I will try to improve in next piece and for the next one, I will do better... renders and real photos for people can see and compare... One think that its my flag its the quality and detail... I can assure you the next piece will be better than this... Its finish and we will be in ancient world again...

To finish and for dont bored you anymore, I just want express my GRATITUDE for you believe in RPmodels, in my team and in me... People like you give us strength to continue, to grow up, to be better and better... THANK YOU Sir

With best regards
Hugo Pereira

Thanks for the pictures ! I think that the fit of your elephant is a little bit better than mine at the top and front but worse in the back. However, after filling it will not show. Mine is number 85.

Hi, here some pics of mine in progress.
Had problems with fitting the head, but finally I've managed it. Some filling is needed..

Hi Alex,
My elephant overall fits better on the top, bottom and the front but not the rear due to uneven pressure apply on the moulds during casting. I might use a heat gun to soften the resin to fix the problem. The black line crack on my elephant head is really a mystery. I tried cleaning it with 99% alcohol and sanding it with 1500 sand paper but it is still there. Mine number is either 73 or 93. The number on the certificate does not really correspond to the kit when it comes out from the mould. They just assembled all the parts in plastic bags and put in the box with the signed certificate.

I picked my copy up at the Darlington Show yesterday and I am delighted. It is a deeply impressive concept and work of art.

I love it!

Gary

I still hope to see some Republican era Romans to go along with this.

I agree, that's the one thing that's missing here.

The old Verlinden 120mm Mughul war elephant from the late 1990s (still a nice piece today, although not in the same league as this one) at least had an enemy soldier on the ground to serve as a point of interaction with the elephant riders. It kind of tied the whole thing together. That's lacking with this release.

In the grand scheme of things though, it's still a fantastic release. I also collected mine at Darlington on Saturday and am likewise very impressed. Massive credit to Hugo and his RP team for taking on such an ambitious project and achieving a great result.

Just don't make them all left handed, as shown on the box art. That would be...weird!
