Russian infantry Grenadiers 1812, HELP!

I am in the midst of painting Avanpost's new Russian Grenadier 1812. whilst researching online I have come across conflicting uniform details.
I have these photos of the sword knot.


The first one is for 1st Battalion, 1st Company, the 2nd photo is 2nd Battalion, 2nd company.
I am thinking of painting him as either of these regiments from the 1st or 2nd Infantry division (Grenadiers)
1st (Grenadiers) Life Grenadiers
Pavlovsk Grenadiers
St. Petersbourg Grenadiers
Yekaterinoslav Grenadiers
Count Arakcheiev Grenadiers
Taurida Grenadiers

2nd (Grenadiers) Kiev Grenadiers
Moscow Grenadiers
Fanagoria Grenadiers
Astrakhan Grenadiers
Little Russia Grenadiers
Siberia Grenadiers



What lettering would appear on the shoulder straps, which at that time were red.

I gather you're working on the Avanpost grenadier with the mitre, representing the Pavlovskii Regiment. In that case, he should have a yellow cyrillic P on the shoulder boards. The figure is a NCO and should have gold braid on collar and cuffs.

I'm sure Martin will come up with far better illustrations.

I have painted the figure you mention , this is the I am painting now.


The uniform is the same as the Pavlov grenadier's but it's just the shoulder straps.

As far as I know grenadiers had red shoulder straps with a yellow cypher in cyrillic, identifying the named regiment.

This is what I was looking for I had look at the web page from images de soldats. bur as the images are small I was unsure.

I discovered the infantry volume is out of print now, as a "friend" having had a 'terrible loss of memory' forgot to return my copy he even doesn't remember borrowing from me, the poor bloke !
