Malcolm and Briggsy, thank you both very much!

With the much larger scale I’d feel it a missed opportunity if I didn’t try to get more detail in. I’m not sure exactly what I’m after but I think I’ll recognise it when I see it.

Cheers, kempie

Wow, they ain't kiddin, this pattern is looking really fine, Kempie, IMHO, wow! I like how it's defined and crisp, perfect from here. Shading and highlighting, if I remember from a couple of moons ago myself,......... 10th Mountain figures, Afghan dio.

https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/afghan-dio-10th-mtn-div-120mm-deyun-figures.41400/ Post #12 You'll just be using green tones, but the concept will be the same.

Ruck On, Bby!

Hi kempie

WOW! ...that’s great SBS on the camo ...looks the dogs biscuits 🍪

Liking the textures on the webbing straps not so sure on pouches ...stippling looks like it’s worked nicely

The more I see this the more I like the bust ..........

Great to see the updates

Looking forward to seeing more

Thanks so much @Ski for dropping in. Really appreciate you digging up that link, it brought back memories of some good times. I do think I’m going to try with oils on the back of the piece at first and see where I get.

Just for clarification, if I’m only working on shadow and highlight regions, then on a lot of surfaces, there will be no oils at all?

Cheers, kempie

Great that the SBS came together well. Please feel free to use it or link it wherever it will be most useful.

Not sure whether the pouches are what I was after but that’s ok. I’m one step closer to figuring out what I want.

The bust is a cracker, for those with the sculpting skills, some small changes could easily give you an Aussie SAS trooper or post fire fight LRRP or the like.

Cheers, kempie

Today’s progress. Camo finished either side of the webbing straps and everything else has been given at least a first pass.

Cheers, kempie

That is correct, but you can feather in pretty much any oil tone for further clarification. I just keep it very subtle myself. The Arnhem Para's each had specific color tones for each camo color. Time consuming, yes, but worth it, even though my rendition was not accurate, the blouse still looked decent enough.

https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/advance-to-arnhem-1-16-scale.281137/page-8 Poat #158 gives a good example of each color tone shaded and highlighted by very minor feathering of the oils.

Ruck On, Buddy, this is looking Awesome!
