This flat figure in resin was painted in oils over acrylics. I have a friend of mine who has been telling me to paint more flats as a way of improving my overall painting technique. It was fun to do and went pretty quickly compared to a full figure.

Your mate's right. Painting flats will almost certainly improve your painting overall. You learn to better control the paint, without question. This is a clear example, without doubt one of the best, if not the best, thing you've shared with us on here. Top job. (y)

Thanks for the kind words. A few of us get together here just to trade ideas and talk figure painting, and our friend Rick Taylor has been after me for a few years to try a few flats. I'll have to get him to give me his thoughts. (Our "club" is three people strong, myself, Rick and Ray Welshman but its always good to get together and do some figure talk.)

I would have to agree with the rest, this looks great. So, technically there wouldn't be much of a shift to work on canvas now. That idea scares me, personally, I need that three dimensional figure to keep my head on straight, lol.

Great work!

Well, that certainly is some modelling club. Quality over quantity, without any doubt!
