Hello everyone,

I just recently finished painting this beautiful Tunison piece depicting General Samuel Crawford at Gettysburg on July 2nd 1863. Its approximately 250mm in scale and was painted in artist's oils. The flag gave me absolute fits, I had to pretty much guess what the stripe colors are. I used photos of the remnants of the actual flag and painted it as accurate as possible.

Tunison produced 63 cold cast bronzes of the life size statue. I did a lot of research on Crawford and used pictures of the statue at Gettysburg to help figure out the painting of the stripes. .

Hi Len

Great to see you posting , the sculpt is instantly recognisable as Mr Tunison's work , a fine piece is art in itself

You've done a lovely job on it as well , the flag looks good as does the flesh and uniform colour ...impressive artwork
