The gold lace looks good, I do like how clean and precise you get it, much better than my "impressionist" approach.

Cheers Simon

Thank you young man ...there’s nothing impressionist about your approach

Oh yes! Looking good. Awaiting your recipe, too....
Melanie

Thank you ...he should come out good ...fingers crossed , there is mixes of other painters in the “ Naps references “ thread if you want to look

Will get a review done then back to bench

Thanks for looking in

That collar is definitely a great start on the bling.
Had a look at the references, mostly acrylic based, not that that's an issue. I had a go using the method from Milan Dufek from his extensive Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@milandufek8151
Melanie

Thank you Melanie , thanks for Milan’s excellent channel link ....a extremely talented painter ...the videos are great to sit and watch

Very precise and clean lines on the decoration on the collar.A truly fine job.

Oda.

Cheers Aris ...I enjoy this sort of thing !

The gold work is great, just make sure you have enough paint for that nose!

Cheers Simon

Appreciate your words .......currently stocking up with the 5 L tins for the flesh ...lol

Hi folks

Before I immerse myself in the epaulette and aguilette ....as promised here’s the colours I used for the collar bling

There’s no set down ratio with each ...just a build up with acrylics using a minute touch of blending medium ...I use W&N ..see piccy others are available of course

Basecoat over a primer #1

Mix of #1 & 2 ..virtually a wash

Then the previous with a bit of 3

#3 & 4 for initial highs

Previous plus # 5 ...gradually building up

#5 on its own for the high points

Finally a very diluted wash of #6 ...build this up after waiting to dry ..it will leave a slight sheen

You could add a minute 50/50 mix of Gloss and Satin Varnish but not a must

Remember it’s all about visual effects and my way suits me

You could also use these sort of colours instead of my colours

Hope this is of help or perhaps interest !
